Davis, Chairman, Federal Trade Commission, Washington, D.C. In full: "Dear Mr. Davis: I wish to acknowledge receipt of your note of July 31, together with a copy of a newspaper release and Part I of your statement on the Textile Industries in 1933 and 1934, which reached my office during my recent absence. I have already become acquainted with your earlier reports dealing with the data for 1933 and the first half of 1934 and am pleased to have for my use and the use of our staff members this more comprehensive report. Every good report whets the appetite for more. In this case, it occurs to me that at some later date it might be of considerable advantage if your organi-zation could supplement with data prior to 1933 and with current information subsequent to 1934" Henry Agard Wallace (1888-1965) served as FDR's Secretary of Agriculture, the same job held by his father, Henry C. Wallace, under Presidents Harding and Coolidge (March 5, 1921 until his death on October 25, 1924). At the Democratic National Convention held in Chicago Stadium from July 15-18, 1940, Wallace was selected by FDR to be his running mate, and the convention nominated the team on the first ballot. In the November 5, 1940 election, FDR and Wallace soundly defeated the Republican ticket of political newcomer Wendell L. Willkie and Senator Charles L.
